Do you know?
Eight million metric tons: That’s how much plastic we dump into the oceans each year. That’s about 17.6 billion pounds — or the equivalent of nearly 57,000 blue whales — every single year. By 2050, ocean plastic will outweigh all of the ocean’s fish
Our Mission
SeaCleanse is committed to removing marine waste from the oceans surrounding the U.S. and particularly the Great Pacific Garbage Patch located between Hawaii and California. We use advanced ocean-cleaning equipment to collect marine waste, transport it to zero-emission plants and convert it into clean-burning fuel. We strive to recover as much ocean waste as we can, using methods that have the smallest possible impact on the environment.

We want to protect and preserve our oceans and keep our planet healthy.
Our Technology
SeaCleanse uses special barges that are 280 feet long by 75 feet wide to recover and store ocean waste. After sailing out to the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, each barge utilizes special cranes and excavators to collect large volumes of garbage. We also deploy small boats from each barge, enabling crew members to use nets and other equipment to retrieve specific pieces of waste and ensure a more thorough cleanup effort. We also use conveyor belts submerged in water to bring garbage up to the deck, excavation equipment, cranes, large hand nets, and large trawl nets.
Our goal is to collect up to 1000 tons of garbage on each trip!
Our People
Our cleanup missions in the Pacific Ocean are staffed by teams of dedicated and passionate volunteers. Each barge contains sleeping and accommodation facilities, allowing our teams to live and work together for the duration of each mission. We have a diverse group from a variety of different backgrounds, ages, and professions, which is part of what makes working with SeaCleanse such a rewarding experience.
To eliminate as much ocean waste as possible, we need people that enjoy being on the open water, have a positive attitude, and love working with others to make a real difference. If you’re passionate about the ocean and the environment and you enjoy exciting new experiences, you could be a valuable member of the SeaCleanse team.
